HOW IT WORKS

OTE Hockey Academy integrates elite hockey training into the school day, allowing student-athletes in Grades 8–12 to develop their skills while staying on track academically. The program combines focused on-ice training to improve skating, puck control, shooting for skaters as well as professional goalie instruction. Off-ice sessions are a balance hockey skills development and strength and conditioning sessions. Hockey Skills are broken down into granular detail with many repetitions to help build and learn about mastery.  S&C sessions build technique, strength, power, agility, and knowledge. This balanced off-ice approach helps players reach their full potential both on and off the ice.

01

Enrollment & Eligibility

Enrollment is open to high school-aged student-athletes in Grades 8–12. Students should be enrolled in an SD22 area school (Kalamalka, Fulton, Seaton, or VSS) or have approved alternative arrangements.

Upon acceptance, students seamlessly integrate OTE training into their academic routine, allowing them to pursue elite-level hockey training while staying on track with their education.

02

Academic Integration & Block Scheduling

OTE operates two groups within the local school district (SD22) in Vernon (British Columbia) and aligns with the AB & CD block schedules. Each group alternates training times weekly throughout the semester.

  • During morning sessions, parents drop students off at 8:30 AM at PV, and a bus returns them to their enrolled school for afternoon classes.

  • During afternoon sessions, students are transported from their school by bus to the arena, with parents picking them up at 3:00 PM at PV

This integration allows student-athletes to train at an elite level without disrupting their academic commitments.

03

Program Details & Schedule

OTE Hockey Academy runs druing the first semster (early September to late January), and is fully aligned with the SD22 school calendar.

  • Training sessions alternate between morning and afternoon blocks each week, ensuring players balance academics with their training.
